The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic voluntary organization dedicated to the sanctification of its members through serving the poor and disadvantaged. The Society was founded in 1833 to serve impoverished people living in the slums of Paris, France by Blessed Frederic Ozanam.
Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (or "Vincentians" ) are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. We are young and old. Our members come in every shade of skin color. Some of us are wealthy, some are financially poor, but all of us are blessed with an awareness that our blessings (time, talent or treasure) are to be shared with our brothers and sisters in need.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through cash or in-kind service. An essential precept of the Society's work is to provide help while conscientiously maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served. The Society recognizes that it must assume, also, a role of advocacy for those who are defenseless or voiceless.
The St. Vincent De Paul Socity was formed in our parish in 14-07-1991 with the help and blessings of the then Vicar, Fr. Peter Kootttiyani
We take donations from the parishioners through the tin distributed to each family, once in every year.. The member of the society also contributes to the fund.
- We support education of children from poor family backgrounds.
- We identify the families in need and make donations for their livelyhood.
- Visit the poor and unprivileged in their homes and help them.
- Blood donation camps are organized
- Poor and needy patients assisted
Our children and youth participating in these events recognize the importance of 'giving' early in their life and thus, continue with these selfless acts throughout their life. This will help them to understand how blessed we are and appreciate all what we have in life.
